Opening Thought: The next steps on the journey require courage. First, the courage to take an honest look at ourselves (a moral inventory), and second, the courage to share what we find with God and a trusted person. This process isn't about shame; it's about bringing things into the light so God can heal them.

Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”
Acts 4:20 “for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”

Step 4: Moral Inventory. The author describes this as one of the hardest things he was asked to do. Why is taking an honest look at ourselves so difficult? What are the spiritual dangers of avoiding it?

The book says, "we are only as sick as our secrets." Do you agree? How does bringing our "dark places" into God's light lead to healing?

A key point is that an inventory includes the good stuff, too. "God has given all of us gifts that He wants to use for His glory." Why do we often forget to inventory our talents and positive qualities? How can acknowledging our God-given gifts protect us from false humility?

Step 5: Confession. The author mentions the danger of keeping the information from an inventory to ourselves. What are the benefits of sharing your story with a trusted person who can be an accountability partner?

Proverbs 28:13 says, "whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." How are confession and forsaking (turning away from) linked? How does experiencing God's mercy through confession help us to forsake our sin?

The author says the enemy uses secrets to lie to us and keep us from our calling. How have you seen this play out in your own life or the lives of others? How does bringing those secrets to light become a "weapon against the enemy"?

Reflection: Read Psalm 139:23-24: "Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there is any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!" Spend some quiet time this week praying this verse and asking God to gently reveal one area He wants to work on with you.

Action Step: You don't have to do a full inventory this week, but take one step. Identify one person in your life (a spouse, a pastor, a trusted friend in this group) who you could be more transparent with. Pray for the courage to share something real with them.

Pray for the courage to be honest with yourselves and with God. Ask the Holy Spirit to be a gentle guide in the process of self-examination. Pray for the group to be a safe place of trust and accountability, where secrets lose their power and God's healing light can shine.
