Sharing Our Faith

Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

1 Peter 3:15 “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”

Step 12: Carrying the Message. Matthew 5:16 says to "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father." According to this verse, what is the ultimate purpose of our good works and sharing our faith?

The book says, "Evangelism isn't a chore; it's a celebration of the transformation you've experienced." How does this perspective shift your view of sharing your faith?

The author shares that his testimony of feeling unloved and alone was something God gave him to share so others would not feel alone. How can the most difficult parts of your story become the most powerful parts of your testimony?

A major theme of this chapter is community, fellowship, and accountability within the church. Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." How has your involvement in a Christian community "sharpened" you?

Reflection: What is your testimony? Take a few minutes to think about the story of what your life was like before you truly started following Jesus and what it's like now. Your story doesn't have to be dramatic to be powerful.

Action Step: Pray this prayer this week: "God, give me one opportunity to be a light for you. Help me to see it and give me the courage to act on it." It could be an act of service, a kind word, or sharing a piece of your story. Be ready to share what happens.

Pray for God to fill each person with a fresh love for those who don't know Him. Ask for boldness and wisdom to share the hope of the Gospel. Pray that your lives, words, and actions would be a clear and attractive testimony to the goodness and grace of Jesus Christ.
