IN THIS LESSON
Opening Thought: A disciple isn't just a student, but a follower who applies what they have learned. The "Disciple Lifestyle" isn't a set of rules, but the outward expression of an inward relationship with Jesus, affecting our attitudes, behaviors, and choices every day.

Matthew 4:19 “Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

The book offers a biblical definition of a disciple as "someone who is following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and is committed to the mission of Jesus." Which of these three parts (following, being changed, being committed to mission) do you find most challenging in your current season of life?

How does the definition of "lifestyle" (interests, opinions, behaviors, social relations, consumption) challenge you to think about your faith? In which of these areas is it easiest to live out your faith? Where is it hardest?

The author states, "The life of a disciple is not passive; it is characterized by action, reflection, and a constant yearning for a deeper understanding of faith." Does this describe your current walk with God? What is one "action" you could take this week to be less passive in your faith?

Read Amos 5:4: "For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: ‘Seek Me and live’". How does this simple command encapsulate the essence of the Disciple Lifestyle? What does "seeking God" look like on a practical, daily basis for you?

Reflection: Consider your daily and weekly patterns your work, your entertainment, how you spend your money and time. In what ways do these patterns reflect your relationship with Christ? Ask God to show you one area where He wants to bring more alignment.

Action Step: Choose one of the foundational aspects of discipleship mentioned in the chapter (e.g., daily Scripture, prayer, an act of service). Commit to practicing it with intention for at least 15 minutes, three times this week.

Pray for the group to embrace a lifestyle that truly reflects Jesus. Ask God to move you from being simply learners of His Word to being active followers. Pray for a deeper "yearning" for Him and a willingness to let Him shape every part of your lives.
